Self-taught British contemporary artist Jos Haigh, who originally trained as a scientist, has captured the attention of critics with her self-described 'big, bright and bold' flower portraits in acrylic.

The Buckinghamshire based painter, who also produces pieces in watercolour, became a finalist of art publisher Washington Green's New Artist Competition last summer, and on the back of the contest was selected for Castle Galleries new talent exhibition in 2015. Haigh takes inspiration from artists such as Van Gogh and Georgia O’Keefe and enjoys 'experimenting with unconventional combinations and creating the unexpected'.
